In this video, a “coupon-maniac” shares with you how I stay organized with using coupons for your weekly shopping and food preparation! Take a note of her secrets now. Share your opinion below, is she going to extremes? Can you really save money like that?
One of the most exciting things about finding a coupon that you can spend in a store or online is just that: finding a coupon.
If you imagine the really early days in coupons when shoppers would have to scour newspapers and magazines for coupons that they could use with their favourite products and stores, the sheer joy of finding one that you could use to make a massive saving must have been something special.
And things have not really changed. There is a new breed of coupon hunter out there, and this one knows exactly where to look for the kind of coupons that get away if we’re not careful.
The Sundays Goldmines
Sunday newspapers are absolute goldmines when it comes to finding coupons that can save us money. All you have to do is take a trip down to your local newsagent (that’s the real one, with a real person inside it) and grab a couple of Sunday newspapers off the shelves. Turn to the back and what do you see? That’s right, pages and pages of coupons and special offers that many people, on a weekend, just skim past. Let’s face it, many of us are too tired to do anything on weekends, much less scour the newspapers for coupons. It is just too much hassle, right?
Wrong. Patently wrong. Coupon hunters have been known to get fantatsic deals from the Sunday newspapers. All it takes is a pair of scissors, your trusty coupon filing system, and a keen eye for a bargain, and you can easily find yourself with an amazing selection of coupons within minutes of looking through those back pages.
The Free Papers.
That’s right, it’s not all about the Sundays. If you travel down to your local subway, you are bound to find someone handing out free newspapers. These are usually chock full of the latest coupon deals, and many of these deals are actually very good quality.
The reason why they are very good quality is that many of them are time bonded. This means that the nature of a lot of free papers (daily and very up to date) allows stores and retailers to load up the deals with massive discounts, because they know that the deals will, by default, end very shortly.
So with free newspapers expect quick and exciting deals that are most definitely worth cutting out of the papers to take full advantage of.
Get in the spirit
From this moment on, you as a coupon hunter need to understand that looking in the papers that people generally skim over is one of the very best ways to get a good deal.
Take your time, and build up a strategy as regards finding good papers to look in. Then you will cut down on your research time. Coupons are great fun, and it is time to take things back to how they used to be. Once you have ‘rediscovered’ the joy of finding a great deal in a newspaper, you really will not be able to go back to missing them every weekend, or (in the case of free papers) every day.
Share your thoughts now. Is this couponing to extremes? Is it really worth it and do you know anyone is is as bad as that in collecting coupons?
